Chief Jen Collins-Brown reports that at approximately 4:45 PM Sunday evening on September 16th, the Essex County Regional Emergency Communications Center (RECC) began recieving calls reporting an MVC in the area of Ipswich Road at Willowdale Road. As Ambulance 1 with Lt Tom Ash and Firefighters Fontaine and Dalissandro arrived, they were updated that callers were now reporting CPR in progress on 1 victim. Lt Ash assumed command updating that there was 1 person in traumatic arrest, a second with minor injuries. TFD medics and EMTs from A1 and later arriving units Engine 2, Squad 1, and A2 with Northeast’s Ambulance began caring for the patients, administering Advanced Life Support. Northeast took 1 critically injured person to the hospital with TFD personnel to assist and form a full medic unit. TFD A-1 transported a second victim with non-life threatening injuries to Beverly Hospital. Chief Collins-Brown would like to thank Assistant Chief Ben Jennell of the West Newbury Fire Department as well as all other bystanders who stopped to help the victims of the crash. The cause of the crash is under investigation by the Topsfield Police Department with the help of the Massachusetts State Police. As always, our thoughts are with those affected.
