For Immediate Release:
Topsfield Police Chief Evan Haglund and Topsfield Fire Chief Jen Collins-Brown report that at approximately noon yesterday, February 6, North Shore Regional Emergency Communications Center received a 911 call for a child found walking alone on the side of the road. Topsfield Police, Topsfield Fire and Northeast Regional Ambulance were dispatched to the scene. The child, a twenty-three month old, was found by an alert resident while driving on the street. The resident and his wife took the child and began warming him as responders arrived. The child was thoroughly evaluated and uninjured and was reunited with his parents after an investigation. No charges were filed, but the Department of Children and Families were notified by Topsfield Police and Fire Departments per policy. All responders are grateful to the resident for taking immediate action and preventing harm to this child given the weather and road conditions at the time of the incident.
