Yesterday evening, North Shore Regional Emergency Communications Center began receiving phone calls for a serious motor vehicle crash in front of 111 Boston Street. The calls to 911 gave various locations, but all reported the accident to be serious. Topsfield Police and Firefighters arrived within two minutes and began assessing the scene and the injuries. Two vehicles were involved with a total of three occupants. The occupant of a smaller sedan was unconscious with potentially life-threatening injuries. Topsfield Officers Levasseur and Ricci worked with Topsfield Firefighters Hallinan and M. Winfrey to remove the woman from her heavily damaged car. Her injuries necessitated transport to a Level One Trauma Center. Topsfield Fire Paramedics treated her and transported her to the South Gate of the Fairgrounds to meet the Boston Medflight helicopter. Lt. Boyle and Chief Collins-Brown assisted at the scene with Topsfield Engine 2. Topsfield Ambulance 2 also responded to evaluate the other two injured persons. Wenham Police, Danvers Police, Massachusetts State Police Accident Reconstruction Team and Mass DOT all assisted at the scene. The accident is being investigated by Topsfield Police assisted by the Massachusetts State Police Accident and Reconstruction Team.
